'Scarce budget major obstacle to higher edn enhancement'

JU Correspondent
The vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University yesterday said there is no alternative to increasing budget for public universities to enhance the standard of higher education. He said the fame of universities depends on research work; regretfully the tendency of researching among the university teachers is not admirable today in the country. The JU VC, Prof Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir, thinks that inadequate budget is a major obstacle for the universities to continue research works. Prof Kabir discussed the problem in higher education in his article, "Tertiary Education of Bangladesh: Present and Future", at the 49th basic training course programme arranged by Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) in Savar yesterday.
