German president arrives today
A red carpet will be rolled out when German President Christian Wulff arrives here this noon on a three-day official visit.
Wulff is the first German president to visit Bangladesh since 1986.
He is leading an 84-member delegation, comprising members of the German parliament, state secretaries of the foreign office and the economics and technology ministry as well as a high-level business delegation.
Two German scholars of Islamic Studies will accompany Federal President Christian Wulff.
Among other topics on his agenda are meetings with German institutions in Bangladesh, representatives of civil society and religious leaders.
The German president, who is coming at the invitation of President Zillur Rahman, will arrive at 1:15pm at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
President Zillur Rahman is expected to receive him at the airport.
During his stay, President Wulff will meet President Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
