Alleged robber beaten to death in city
One alleged robber was killed in a mob beating at the city's Senpara Parbata yesterday when he and his two accomplices were robbing electronics from the office of a developer company.
The mob attacked Md Shahabuddin, 26, around 9:30am and was rescued by Mirpur police and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 6:00pm.
Monir Hossain, peon of Homeland Developer Ltd, told this correspondent that three miscreants approached him and asked where the managing director was as he was opening their office on the second floor of the five-storey building.
The criminals attacked him, snatched his cellphone and confined him in a toilet after he told them that the director would come 10:00am.
Shohag, caretaker of the building, shouted for help as Monir was attacked. People from surrounding area came to the aid of Monir and chased the robbers. They caught Shahabuddin while the others managed to flee.
Police said Shahabuddin told them that his accomplices were Sourav and Sentu.
