1975 Jail Killing

'Form court like war crimes tribunal'

Speakers at a discussion in New York have demanded that the government should form a tribunal like the war crimes tribunal to try those who were the masterminds behind the jail killing in 1975. They said the same culprits who led the mass killing in 1971 also masterminded the killing of four national leaders--Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, M Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman-- in captivity in Dhaka central jail on November 3. New York and Florida branches of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee and Samprity Forum jointly organised the discussion on November 17, says a press release. Dr Manju Islam, son of Syed Nazrul Islam, said the nation should arrange symbolic trial to initiate the movement for trying the killers of four national leaders like Jahanara Imam did in 1994 for trying the war criminals.
