Blood grouping camp of slum dwellers held
A blood group screening camp was held on Friday at Kalyanpur Porabari slum in the city.
The day-long session was held under the auspices of Healthcare for Under-privileged Programme (Hup) in cooperation with Human Aid Bangladesh (Hab).
During the session, blood grouping of over 300 slum dwellers was done under the supervision of 14 doctors from the Hab.
The HUP has been providing medicare facilities to 20,000 slum dwellers of the slum, especially the underprivileged children and women.
The main tasks of the Hup are to decrease maternal mortality, child mortality, infant mortality and combat malnutrition.
The HUP is funded mostly by several Microsoft employees and Microsoft Give Campaign.
The Hup founder Tazin Shadid, Hab founder Sheikh Mohammad Moinul Islam, Hup Clinic Coordinators L A Baki and Dr Istiaque Ahmed Zahid and Field Officers Shahana and Shima were present on the occasion.
