Lotus, Bashir elected DCAB president, general secy
Rezaul Karim Lotus, special correspondent of The Daily Star, and Bashir Ahmed, senior reporter of the Amar Desh were elected president and general secretary of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) yesterday. They were elected unopposed at the DCAB annual general meeting at the Jatiya Press Club. Other office-bearers are Vice-president: Abdul Majid of the daily Somokal, Joint Secretary: Shahidul Islam Chowdhury of The New Age, Treasurer: Khurram Zaman of The Amader Arthoniti, and Office Secretary: Angur Nahar Monty of The Bhorer Kagoj. Executive committee members are Mainul Alam of The Daily Ittefaq, Masud Karim of The Shokaler Khobor, Raheed Ejaz of The Prothom Alo, Shaheen Raja of The daily Inqilab and Zahirul Alam of NTV. Farid Hossain, Bureau Chief of Associated Press, Shafiqul Karim, former president of Dhaka Reporters Unity and Nizamuddin Ahmed, special correspondent of The Financial Express conducted the election.
