112 BNP men get bail over Dec 12 violence

The High Court yesterday granted bail to112 BNP leaders and workers for two months in 10 cases filed in connection with the violence in Dhaka and Sylhet on December 18. All the accused, including former BNP lawmaker Ilias Ali, Dhaka city BNP leader Abdus Salam and former Badda ward commissioner Abdul Qayum, appeared before an HC vacation bench seeking bail. They are facing the charges of arson, damaging vehicles, halting traffic movement, anarchy and preventing policemen from discharging their duties on December 18. The HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Anwarul Haque passed the order after hearing 12 separate bail petitions moved by the accused.
