Nine alleged robbers held
Police arrested nine of a gang in connection with a robbery during a two-day drive in the port city on Sunday and Monday.
Police also recovered 4.5 tola gold ornaments, Tk 15,000 cash, and three mobile sets from their possession.
The arrestees are Sheikh Mostan, 30, Md Solaiman, 26, Md Sahanur, 28, Md Zainul Abedin, 28, Md Solaiman, 27, Md Roman, 21, Md Morshed, 30, Md Ripon, 21, all hailed from Patiya upazila, and Md Delwar, 20, hailed from Moheskhali in Cox's Bazar.
They were arrested from the city's different points.
Police yesterday placed the arrestees before the media at the office of Amena Begum, deputy commissioner (DC) North of Chittagong Metropolitan Police, in Panchlaish.
On December 16, a gang of 11 members, including the arrestees, robbed the house of Abdus Salam at Sobura Monzil in Kotwali, said police.
Mostan, one of the arrestees, was a relative of Abdus Salam and he made the robbery plan, the DC said.
