Appointment of RU teachers protested
The students of agronomy and agricultural extension department at Rajshahi University yesterday demanded the authorities stop appointing candidates, who have graduated on botany, as teachers in the department.
Out of the 17 teachers of the department, seven have botany background, they said and highlighted the need for teachers on diversified subjects.
The agitating students kept locked all classrooms and offices of the department and the main entrance of the agriculture faculty from about 8:00am to 12:00pm yesterday.
If the authorities do not stop the appointment process by February 19, the day fixed for viva voce of the candidates, they will go for further protest, they said.
