75th birth anniversary of Prof Anisuzzaman celebrated

Several hundreds of people, including writers, poets, artists and cultural personalities, yesterday celebrated the 75th birth anniversary of noted educationalist, author and academic of Bengali literature Prof Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman. Prof Zillur Rahman Siddiqui, convener of the celebration programme, showed respect to Prof Anisuzzaman, presenting him with a Shawl at Bakul Tala of the fine arts faculty in Dhaka University (DU) at 8:00am. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also wished him on the occasion. Replying to the felicitations, Prof Anisuzzaman said he wants to work relentlessly as a worker for the people. Anisuzzaman was born in 1937 in Calcutta. He is a Prof Emeritus of DU at Bangla department. He was honored with the Bangla Academy Award and the Ananda Purashkar for his work in the field of Bengali literature. At current, he is the president of Bangla Academy. Around 60 socio-cultural organisations including Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, Kendrio Khelaghar Ashor felicitated him with flowers while noted personalities including actor ATM Shamsuzzaman, artist Quaium Chowdhury, Desh TV MD Asaduzzaman Noor and poet Asad Chowdhury attended the function.
