4 shops, 4 houses gutted
Four shops and four houses were gutted in two separate fires in the port city yesterday.
Fire service sources said a fire, originated from an electric short circuit at a grocery, engulfed three other shops at the east side of Kalurghat bridge area at around 12:05am.
Another fire, originated from an oven of a house at around 12:25pm in Mansurabad area, gutted four houses.
Fire service estimated that valuables worth Tk 3.5 lakh were burnt to ashes in the two fires.
