DoE orders to probe Kirtankhola river grabbing
Department of Environment (DoE) has ordered its Barisal office to investigate the incident of developing a housing project by filling up a portion of the river Kirtankhola, said the department's press release yesterday.
Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, director of DoE (enforcement), said he had instructed local DoE officials in Barisal to identify the filled in part of the river and assess environmental damage with the help of local administration and land office.
If found guilty, the river grabbers will be brought to book, he added.
