Court Correspondent
A Dhaka court yesterday paved the way for newly elected executive committee of Dhaka Bar Association to take over the charge of the office for the next term of 2012-2013. Judge (in charge) Mohammad Helal Uddin of the District and Sessions Judge's Court issued the order following an appeal filed by 25 members of the newly elected committee challenging a lower court order that imposed a ban on taking over the charge. Judge ASM Maruf Chowdhury of the Third Assistant Judge's Court of Dhaka on March 4 imposed a status quo on the newly committee to take over the charge after a defeated candidate filed a case. Advocate Mohammad Sajjad Hossain who was defeated in the election brought charges of irregularities against the chief election commissioner in counting votes and appealed to cancel results of the election.
