Shahara sees plot to foil war crimes trial
Home Minister Shahara Khatun yesterday categorically said that the trial of war criminals, who committed crimes against humanity during the country's Liberation War, must be held as none could be able to foil the ongoing trial by hatching conspiracy.
“The trial of the war criminals who committed crimes like rape, looting and arson in 1971 must have to be held in the land of the country,” she told a rally in the city.
Shahara was addressing a children's rally organised by Islamic Foundation at Osmani Memorial Auditorium marking the 92nd anniversary of birth of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day.
Among others, Members of Parliament Fazilatunnessa (Indira), Sanjida Khanam and Begum Ashrafunnesa Mosharraf and Director General of Islamic Foundation Samim Mohammad Afzal took part in the discussion with Religious Affairs Secretary Kazi Habibul Awal in the chair.
Shahara said the announcement of the birth day of Bangabandhu as the Children's Day is a significant event for the flourishment of talent of the children as they would be able to learn the dedication and sacrifice of Bangabandhu for the cause of the nation.
