Varsity student 'commits suicide'
A student of a private university allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the roof of their house at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony yesterday.
Ashraful Islam Russel, 24, a student of textile engineering final year at Southeast University, jumped off the roof of the four-storey building at around 3:00pm.
Critically injured Russel was first rushed to Islami Bank Central Hospital and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He died there at around 5:00pm.
His father Shahidul Islam is a staff of Bangladesh Railway. Russel was the only son of his parents. He had two sisters.
