HC fines contractor for earth filling

The High Court yesterday fined one contractor, Abdur Rahman, Tk 50,000 for filling up a portion of Nabinagar Khal (canal) in Brahmanbaria defying a restriction from the government. The court directed Rahman to deposit the money to Nabinagar UNO office within three months. It also ordered Rahman to remove the earth from canal in two months. The HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik and Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim gave the verdict after hearing a petition filed by Bela in 2010.
