Train Ticket Black Marketing
‘20,000 SIM cards deactivated’
Railway minister Suranjit Sen Gupta yesterday said the government had deactivated about 20,000 mobile SIM cards to resist the black marketing of train tickets. He said close circuit cameras (CCC) had also been set up in Chittagong Station.
The minister said this while addressing as chief guest a meeting on World Autism Awareness Day'2012 at Zila Shilpa Kala Academy in the port city. Deputy Director of Social Welfare department of Chittagong Parveen Mehtab, Journalist M Nasirul Haque, and Lion Hasina Khan were present as special guests with Autistic Children Development and Welfare Centre (ACDWC) Advisor Dr Bashona Muhuri in the chair. The ACDWC organised the meeting.
The minister said the railway ministry had been incurring losses about of Tk 750 crore every year. The government had set up a committee to find out a solution to overcome the loss, he added.
He also said Tk 400 crore had already been allocated for land acquisition of the Dohazari to Ghumdhum rail line. He urged everyone to help set up the line and said it would connect Chittagong with China and Myanmar.
