DUJ demands new wage board

Staff Correspondent
Leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) yesterday at its executive committee meeting echoed the demand of the journalist associations for formation of eighth wage board for journalists and press workers. The meeting was held at DUJ office in Jatiya Press Club with DUJ President Omar Faruque in chair. The leaders alleged that a section had been creating controversies and misguiding the newspaper owners and the government providing false information causing volatility and frustration in the newspaper industry. Although there was a rule to form a new wage board after every five years for journalists and press workers, no wage board was set up within the last seven years, they said.
