Dr Fahima Aziz made AUW VC

Dr Fahima Aziz has been appointed the vice-chancellor (VC) of Asian University for Women (AUW). The university's Board of Trustees unanimously took the decision, said a press release of AUW yesterday. Dr Aziz, a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin, is an economics professor and currently holds the Endowed Alkire Chair in International Business at Hamline University in Minnesota, USA. She is expected to arrive in Chittagong next month. Dr Aziz obtained a Bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College, a Master's degree from University of Massachusetts and a PhD from University of Minnesota. She chaired the Departments of Management and Economics at Hamline University for ten years and concurrently led the environmental studies programme there for seven years.
