People block road for power
An angry mob put up barricades on Chittagong-Hathazari Road in Amanbazar area here for half an hour yesterday morning demanding power supply in the area.
The sudden blockade caused a traffic jam on the road. The mobs removed the barricades after half an hour as Power Development Board (PDB) authority supplied electricity, said Sub-Inspector Sentu Mia of Hathazari Police Station.
Nahima Akhter, a Chittagong University student residing in Amanbazar area, said, “We had been facing load-shedding for last five days. The local people are also facing many other problems including water crisis.”
Chief Engineer Raisuddin of PDB in Chittagong denied the locals' complain and said, “As the electrical lines were cut off in the area due to storm, there was no power supply from yesterday, but now there is no load-shedding.”
