3 killed in road accidents
Three people were killed and 21 others were injured in road accidents on Manikganj and Faridpur yesterday.
UNB from Manikganj reports: A student of Titumir College in the capital was killed and his friend injured as a bus slammed into their motorbike at Kushtia in Saturia upazila yesterday morning.
Asaduzzaman Sabuj Pradhan, 27, an honours final year student of the college and son of Anwar Hossain of Purba Teguri village in Doulatpur upazila in the district, died instantly.
Police said the bus hit the bike when Sabuj and his friend Hamid were going to Teguri from Saturia.
The injured was admitted to Saturia Upazila Health Complex.
Police seized the bus but its driver and his helper managed to flee.
In another accident, a bicycle rider was killed as a motorcycle hit his bike at Kouri in Harirampur upazila yesterday morning.
The victim, Dulal Molla, 65, died on the spot about 11:00am.
UNB from Faridpur adds: A passenger, Smriti, was killed and 20 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in front of Fire Station on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Bhanga upazila yesterday afternoon.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhanga Police Station M Dadon Fakir said the bus skidded off the road and fell into the ditch as its driver lost control over the steering at about 1:00pm, killing Smriti on the spot.
Four of the injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
