8 brick kiln owners fined Tk 25 lakh
The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined Tk 25 lakh to the owners of eight brickfields at Gurudaspur in Natore for burning woods illegally and damaging farmland.
DoE also directed the owners of the brickfields to stop their activities and upgrade its technology within three months.
Director (enforcement) of DoE Mohammad Munir Chowdhury summoned the owners of the brickfields in Dhaka yesterday and fined the owners, says a press release.
DoE also halted under-construction works of two brickfields as these did not have DoE permission.
