I have full confidence in people: PM

Bss, Doha
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said she has full confidence in the countrymen, who would decide how Bangladesh would go ahead in future for its prosperity. The prime minister said the prime target of her government was to free the people from poverty and hunger within the shortest possible time. With this in mind, her government is investing its full efforts to make Bangladesh a middle-income country by 2021, she added. “I firmly believe that a nation which can earn freedom through a bloody war and immense sacrifices can also work hard for their development and prosperity,” she said. The prime minister was addressing a reception accorded to her by expatriate Bangladeshi citizens at Doha Diplomatic Club in Doha. She said the expatriate investors in the newly established economic zones would be given special facilities from the government. Highlighting the steps taken for the welfare of wage earners and expatriate citizens, she said Bangladesh's economy was able to tackle the world's economic recession due to the constant flow of remittance. The country could not achieve its expected growth as “anti-liberation forces” ruled the country undemocratically for long after the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, she added. Returning to power after 21 years of the killing, the government had ensured the real work needed to materialise the expectations of the country's people, she said.
