From no-man's-land to every-man's-land!

Karmakar's report from Dinajpur, along with the photograph of a humble border mosque, makes interesting reading! Though published in your National page on 18th. April, it is more an International news. The matter relates to the mosque in Hilli, under the Dakshin Dinajpur police station, in the Indian state of Paschimbangla where devotees from both sides of the Indo-Bangla border offer their congregation prayer daily! There is no official border crossing or any other formalities. Here friendly neighbours, from both sides of the border join together for prayers, as instructed in Islam, the religion that means 'Peace'! This takes place regularly, throughout the year, except when tension prevails, usually related to criminality of the Indian BSF. Despite this, it was heartening to learn that neighbours from both sides of the border joined the namaz-e-janaza of Hossain, a resident of Bangladesh, on 10th. March just inside Bangladesh territory. He was shot by the cruel Indian BSF on March 5th and died in Rangpur hospital on March 9th. This shows that good neighbours remain good neighbours, for whom 'no-man's-land is every-man's-land', ignoring geographical and political borders!
