Abducted child rescued

Police yesterday rescued an abducted child from Laxmipur of Noakhali after the arrest of the abductor from the port city on Monday night. The arrestee is identified as Md Sajjad, 22, of Lalkhanbazar in Chittagong city. Sajjad abducted Mishu, an 11-month-old infant, from her house at Khejurtola of Patenga on April 9 and took her to Laxmipur, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamruzzaman of Patenga Police Station. Quoting Mishu's family sources, police said Sajjad wanted to marry Pinky, the maternal aunt of the child. Pinky lives with Mishu's family. Md Rubel, father of Mishu, didn't give his consent to the proposal as Sajjad was already married. A few days after the abduction, Sajjad made a phone call to Rubel and said him to be agreed to his proposal otherwise they would not get back Mishu. On April115, Razia Begum, mother of the victim, filed a case against Sajjad. On secret information, police arrested Sajjad from the High Level Road at Wasa Circle of the city on Monday night. During interrogation, Sajjad admitted that he abducted Mishu and according to his information police rescued Mishu from the house of one Jahangir in Moju Chowdhury Hat area of Laxmipur yesterday. Police handed over the child to her family.
