Death anniversary
Today is the 1st death anniversary of Begum Fawzia Samad, former president of Dhaka Ladies Club, says a press release. Devoted to the cause of the country's women folk, she held different positions at the club for about 40 years till her death. She also played a very vital role in establishing Bangladesh General Insurance Co Ltd, which was founded by her husband late MA Samad. In 1949, the couple founded, edited and ran a magazine called "Miner" for children and youths of the country. Fawzia Samad was born to a respectable Muslim family of Sylhet in 1929.
