Golam Sarwar, editor of Bengali daily Shamokal, filed a general diary (GD) with Tejgaon Industrial Police Station on Monday, seeking security of his life after unknown callers threatened to kill him. The threats were issued over some reports published in the newspaper on the "disappearance" of BNP leader Ilias Ali, said Omar Faruq, officer-in-charge of the police station, quoting the GD. "The callers made several calls over land phone at different times on Monday saying that if the Shamokal continues such reporting on Ilias Ali, the editor will also be disappeared and will not get time for filing any GD or case with police", the GD said. The home ministry, inspector general of police (IGP), Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioners, and other law enforcement officials concerned were informed of the incident.
