From January 2010 till now, around one hundred people disappeared after they were picked up by allegedly by members of the law enforcement agencies. According to the report published in The Daily Star(on 23rd April), 51 people went missing last year and 22 people have so in the last four months. The most frightening aspect of these disappearances is that no one could be found dead or alive! BNP leader M. Ilias Ali along with his driver went missing on the night of 17th April from Banani area of the capital. No one knows whether he is dead or alive. It has been seen that the kidnapping and disappearance of leaders and active supporters BNP have remarkably increased. The human rights organisations of the country blame police, Rab and other intelligence agencies for the disappearances. The security forces have rejected this accusation. But they have failed to protect or rescue any of the abducted men alive! So, it's not unreasonable to assume the involvement of the law enforcement agencies in these disappearance cases. The government should find the disappeared people and take legal action against those involved in these crimes.
