Govt concerned over 'missing' of Ilias Ali
Says shipping minister
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan yesterday said the government is concerned over the “disappearance” of BNP leader Ilias Ali and is trying to trace him out.
“It is a matter of concern. Though the government is trying to find him, the opposition is not cooperating in this regard. Rather they are trying to create a political issue out of it,” he said.
The minister was addressing a reception ceremony for freedom fighters and family members of the 1971 Liberation War victims marking the 125th founding anniversary of Chittagong port.
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) organised the reception at Port Training Centre at Chittagong port with its Chairman Rear Admiral Nazimuddin Ahmed in the chair.
A total of 100 families of the victims and 30 freedom fighters were accorded the reception where local AL lawmaker MA Latif, Shipping Secretary Abdul Mannan Hawlader and senior CPA officials were present.
Then two-day founding anniversary celebrations concluded through a cultural programme at Shaheed Shamsuzzaman Stadium yesterday. Three mezbans (traditional feasts) were also organised by CPA and berth operators.
