Chehlum of Shawkat Jamil held
Chehlum of Shawkat Jamil, former senior photojournalist at The Daily Star, was held at his ancestral home at Katpatty Road in Barisal city yesterday. On the occasion, a doa and milad mahfil was held. Family members, journalists, local people, relatives, friends and well-wishers attended the programme. Members of Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association and Barisal Reporters Unity placed wreaths at the grave of Shawkat Jamil and prayed for the departed soul. Jamil passed away in Dhaka on March 13 at the age of 56. He was laid to rest at Barisal Muslim Graveyard the next day.
