Samad Azad's contributions recalled
Speakers at a meeting yesterday said the nation needs leader like Abdus Samad Azad to face the present challenges in politics.
Abdus Samad Azad Smriti Sangsad organised the memorial meeting at Sylhet auditorium in the city, marking the seventh death anniversary of the great politician.
Sylhet city Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, also president of the organisation, chaired it while member-secretary Iftekhar Hossain Shamim, among others, addressed.
They said Azad, a close associate of Bangabandhu, had a bright political career and hugely contributed to the nation by serving the general people.
On the occasion, a milad mahfil was also held at the mosque attached to the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) after Juma prayers.
