Lottery for Jheelmil plots today
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) will hold the second phase of lottery for allotment of 270 plots at Jheelmil housing project among the remaining categories of applicants at the housing ministry today.
Rajuk allotted 520 plots among the applicants under nine general categories through the first phase of lottery on April 11.
Remaining categories of applicants to face lottery today include lawyers, agriculturists, engineers, physicians, and first class government and autonomous bodies' officials.
Though journalist category too was supposed to go through lottery today, the allotment of half of total 20 plots for them will be given through lottery today and the remaining will be settled later through negotiation among the housing minister, press secretary to the Prime Minister and journalists' union leaders, said Md Nurul Huda, chairman of Rajuk.
The eligible candidates under Parliament members and judges categories will qualify directly.
The list of applicants under Armed Forces' members category will be finalised by Armed Forces Division and sent to Rajuk.
The 381-acre housing scheme located in Keraniganj, two kilometres off China-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge, has a total of 1,090 plots, according to Rajuk officials.
A total of 35,000 applicants under various categories qualified for lottery.
In the first phase of lottery, 19,358 qualified applicants took part.
Categories of applicants, who got allotments are,: remittance earners, businessmen and industrialists, private job holders, private teachers, other private job holders, artistes/litterateurs and sports personalities, freedom fighters' families with titles, families of martyred freedom fighters, injured freedom fighters, freedom fighters' families, and lower-ranking government and autonomous bodies' officials.
