Father strangles daughter in Keraniganj
A 40-day-old girl was strangled allegedly by her father at Imambari village under Dakkhin Keraniganj Police Station early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Sohagi, daughter of Tipu and Jahida Begum of the village.
Tipu wanted her wife to give birth to a son, but Jahida gave birth to three daughters, including Sohagi.
Since the birth of Sohagi, Tipu used to lock into altercations with his wife over the birth of the girl.
Early Sunday, Jahida noticed that her daughter was no more.
Hearing her screams, local people rushed in and informed police.
Later, the police recovered the body and sent it to Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Examining evidences, police said the girl was strangled sometime at night.
Tipu went into hiding just after the incident.
Jahida filed a murder case against her husband.
