Australian government has donated Tk 8.19 million to a project of Asia Foundation to promote women's right in the country. High Commissioner of Australia Tim Bolotnikoff on April 26 inaugurated the project-- Promoting Women's Right within an Islamic Framework through Madrasas in Bangladesh--at Naziria Naymia Mahmudia Masrassa in Chittagong. The 18-month project aims to train madrasas' teachers and establish a permanent teaching resource for all madrasas of the country, says a press release. Underscoring the need for religious education in Bangladesh, Bolotnikoff said such education can play important role in promoting rights of the country's women.
