Power supply at a premium rate!
The government has planned to introduce separate electricity line from where the subscribers will get uninterrupted power supply at a premium rate. Some people considered this to be a good initiative though a representative from CAB stated that this will create division among the citizens.
The logic behind premium rate is that the people who will get power at a premium rate, don't live in dark even for a minute. During the time of load shedding they use generator or IPS which costs them the same.
But the fact is, segmented approach is only possible when there is enough supply for general people, unless the product is meant for upper class. Supply of electricity is a basic need of a civilised society and should be affordable by all class of citizens. On the other hand, users of this premium line will cultivate the extra money they will pay for electricity by hiking the prices of the products or services they provide, which will also affect the mass people.
The government should not consider electricity a luxury item and should go for production of electricity at cheaper rate immediately.
