20 hurt as rival AL men clash in Faridpur
At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Awami League (AL) at Berirhat Bazar in Alfadanga upazila early yesterday.
Police said the clash took place between the supporters of Monjurul Islam, chairman of Pachuria union, and local AL leader Jamal Uddin, also the former UP chairman, over establishing their supremacy in the area.
A number of shops were also ransacked and looted during the clash.
On information, police rushed to the spot, fired 14 rubber bullets and charged baton to disperse the clashing groups.
