Customs officer impersonator arrested

A man who allegedly cheated people by impersonating a customs officer was arrested from his New Eskaton residence in the capital on Wednesday by Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP). There were two cases filed against the arrestee, Mojibur Rahman, 45, hailing from Jhalakathi district, with Bandar Police Station, said DB Assistant Deputy Commissioner Tareq Ahmed at a press conference at CMP headquarters yesterday. One of the cases accused him of cheating Tk 9.80 lakh out of one, Sahedul Islam, on March 11 with false assurances of providing 5,000 cellphones and a BMW car, he said. Earlier, police had arrested three of Mojibur's co-accused, Sheikh Kamal, 42, Nur Alam Siddique, 23, and Nurul Haq, 55, he added.
