3,000 kg Hilsa fries, truck seized
A truck carrying some 3,000 kilogrammes of Hilsa fries was seized by Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone) from Bridge Ghat area under Karnaphuli Police Station on Thursday. The driver and helper, however, managed to flee.
The seized items were handed over to Chittagong District Fisheries Officer Provati Devi.
The government banned catching of Hilsa fries from February 1 to May 31 to boost the fish stocks, says a press release.
