Nine die in road accidents
Nine people, including a Myanmar citizen, were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Chittagong, Narsingdi, Rajbari, Habiganj and Brahmanbaria yesterday.
Staff correspondent reports: Two people died after a bus hit their motorbike in Mirpur-Beribandh area in the capital yesterday.
The deceased, Alam Khan, 50, was a petrol pump worker while Kawsar Ahmed Khan, 51, a trader.
A Mohammadpur-bound bus of Alif Paribahan rammed the bike at Birulia at about 1:30pm, killing Alam instantly, said Rupnagar police.
Alam's relative Kawsar was pronounced dead on the way to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor).
Staff correspondent from Chittagong reports: A Myanmar citizen (Rohinga) was killed and four others were injured as a Cox's Bazar-bound bus rammed a Nasiman (three-wheeler) in front of Primary Training Institute (PTI) at Patiya upazila at around 10:00am yesterday.
The deceased, Md Rafiq, 30, was the Nasiman driver, said police.
The injured, Abu Bakar, 35, Abdus Sabur, 30, Delwar Hosain, 40, and Mortuza Begum, 30, also the Myanmar citizens were undergoing treatment at Patiya Upazila Health Complex.
Our Narsingdi correspondent says: Two farmers were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed a rickshaw in Chaitanya bus stand area in Shibpur upazila yesterday.
The victims were Mister Mia, 25, and Bashir Ahmed, 18, of Lalkhartek village in the same upazila.
Injured KhajaUddin, 35, Mozammel, 19, and Manik Mia, 35, were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
Our Manikganj correspondent reports: Mohammad Chandu, 40, supervisor of a bus, was killed as a truck ran over him in Daulatdia signboard area of Goalando upazila in Rajbari early hours of yesterday.
UNB from Goalando says: Dilip Kumar Das, 50, died as an unknown vehicle hit him near Paturia yesterday.
In Habiganj, a Grameen Bank official was killed as a tractor hit a Habiganj-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw from Shayestaganj carrying him at Bhangapool on the outskirts of the town yesterday.
The deceased, Farooq Mia, was an assistant manager of the bank's Kishoreganj district branch.
He was taken to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent says: Suhrab Hossain, 30, was killed and his two friends were injured as a truck knocked their motorbike from the opposite direction on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Budunti bus stand area of Bijoynagar upazila yesterday afternoon.
The injured, Bimon Mitro and Mahedi Hasan Mithu, were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
