56 Trishal unit AL members resign

Our Correspondent, Mymensingh
Fifty six out of 63 members of Trishal upazila unit Awami League (AL) resigned yesterday allegedly in protest of internal conflict and inactiveness of the grassroot level and upazila unit leaders. However, the unit's President (acting) Ismail Hossain and Secretary Abul Kalam did not resign. Receiving the resignation letters, the district AL Secretary Abdul Matin Sarker said lack of party activities, frustration and misbehaviour by the acting president were stated as the causes behind the resignation in the letters. Denying allegations of internal conflict, he said the next course of action would be decided after discussions with the district AL President Principal Motiur Rahman. AL sources said a scuffle broke out at a May 12 meeting at Trishal Nazrul Degree College auditorium between supporters of Kanthal Union AL President Aman Ullah and Organising Secretary Shuva Miah Akanda when the latter suggested postponing the unit's activities.
