Jahangir to be buried today
Jahangir Alam, executive director of Bangladesh Bank, who died in Turkey on May 17, will be buried at his family graveyard in Kashisar village, Debidwar, Comilla, today after a namaz-e-janaza at the bank head office premises at 10:30am, says a press release.
His body was flown to Dhaka at 5:30am yesterday. AFM Asaduzzam, general manager at Bangladesh Bank governor's secretariat, received the body at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and took it directly to his Minto Road official residence.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held there at 9:30am yesterday. Later the body was taken to Paterbag, Dhania where he lived for long and another janaza was held there.
Jahangir Alam died of a cardiac arrest at a hotel in Istanbul, Turkey on May 17, where he was to attend a four day workshop.
He left behind his mother, wife, three sons and a host of well wishers to mourn his death.
His first qulkhwani will be held at his village home on May 21 and a second one at Bangladesh Bank Bhaban after Asr prayers on May 25.
