Mass signature campaign for 7-pt demand at RU
The Samajtantrik Chhatra Front of Rajshahi University (RU) unit has launched a mass signature campaign on the campus to press home a seven-point demand including increase of allocation in budget for education and research sector at the university.
The front started the signature collection yesterday on the campus which will be continued till July 19.
It will place the demands along with the signatures to the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission (UGC) and the university's Vice Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan.
The other demands include reducing all kinds of increased fees, collection of new books and journals at the university central library and supplying sufficient research equipment at all research laboratories, holding Rajshahi University Cultural Students' Union (RUCSU) election, resuming the activities of Teachers Students Cultural Centre (TSCC), solving transport crisis and ensuring congenial atmosphere on the campus.
The leaders and activists of the organisation will lay siege to the UGC office on July 15 to press home their demands, said Sohrab Hossain, convener of RU unit.
