Climate change: 100 youths to be trained

The health ministry has taken up an initiative to provide training to a group of youths to build them up as future leaders of the health sector of Bangladesh in the context of climate change. The Climate Change and Health Promotion Unit under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has selected, through an application process, around 100 dedicated youths, all university students, referred to as the 'Youth Think Tank'. The youths will meet in a two-day conference where they are expected to come up with innovative ideas regarding health promotion and adaptation in the context of climate change, said ministry sources. The conference is scheduled to be held at the auditorium of Department of Forest on Thursday and Friday The think tank members will be trained to respond immediately during any crisis moment regarding health issues. The trained youths will be expected to build awareness and provide training about climate change and work closely with the health professionals in their own community, the sources added.
