Search for new gas field thru' Bapex in Chittagong
CCCI urges PM
Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Murshed Murad Ibrahim yesterday urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to search for new gas fields through Bapex in the probable areas of greater Chittagong.
In a letter to the PM, he made the call, saying that Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (Bapex) is now equipped with more modern technology and skilled manpower than any time in the past.
Through exploring oil resources at Kailashtila and Haripur, the concerned ministry, Bapex, local experts and engineers have proved their capabilities.
Mentioning about Sangu Gas Field, the chamber president said many surveys showed greater possibility of getting gas at Budbudi Chara in Patiya, Jaldi in Banskhali, Shita-hill in Sitakunda, and the greater hill tracks including Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachari.
The probability of getting gas will be much higher if Bapex explores these areas and the gas found will help meet our internal demand of gas, save a huge amount of foreign exchanges and help in our economic development, says a press release of CCCI.
