Six killed, 17 hurt in road crashes
Six people were killed and 17 others injured in separate road accidents in Magura, Chittagong, Chapainawabganj, Satkhira and Joypurhat on Monday and yesterday.
Our Magura correspondent reports: Two elderly men were killed and 12 others were injured as a truck hit a human hauler from the opposite direction on Magura-Jessore highway near the District Fisheries Office in the town yesterday.
The deceased were Yasin Biswas and Khelafat Hossain.
Yasin died on the spot while Khelafat at Magura Sadar Hospital.
Of the injured Shujit, 45, Fatema 10, Tara 35, Jesmin, 10, Kakoli, 33, Lemon, 9, Sonia, 10, Alif, 7, and Rejwan, 18 were admitted to the hospital.
In Chittagong, Jahangir Alam, 24, died as two motorbikes hit him from behind on Chittagong-Hathajari road in Morir Hat area of the port city on Monday night.
In Chapainawabganj, Palash Haldar, 17, son of Panna Haldar, was killed and two others were injured when a pick-up van collided with a bus on Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway at Dhobra in Shibganj upazila yesterday noon.
The injured were Sukumar Pal, 30, and Ganga Haldar, 40.
In Satkhira, Abul Hossain Sohag, 48, died and two others were injured as a shallow engine-run vehicle (locally known as trolley) hit a Nasimon (three-wheeler) on Satkhira-Jessore road at Kazirhat Bazar in Kalaroa upazila yesterday.
Injured Dishar Ali, 65, and Johra Khatun, 50, were admitted to Kalaroa Upazila Health Complex.
Our Dinajpur correspondent says: Rice trader Md Swapan, 27, was killed instantly and another was injured when a microbus hit their motorbike from behind at Kalai Bazar in Kalai upazila of Joypurhat on Monday evening.
Injured Md Shamsujjoha, 40, was undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
