Probe to start over Sylhet Central Jail incident
The three-member probe committee, formed to investigate the Sylhet Central Jail incident on Monday, will start their investigation soon, said Sylhet Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khan Mohammad Belal yesterday.
The probe will be headed by Sylhet Additional DC Md Shahab Uddin Khan, who will be holding the additional charge of additional district magistrate (ADM) in place of ADM Md Shahidul Alam, who is going on a foreign tour today, said Belal.
The probe body has been asked to submit the report in five working days, he added.
On Monday, some Sylhet Central Jail inmates attacked on jail wardens and held Sebedar Yousuf hostage, protesting irregularities and corruption in the jail and demanding for talks with the Sylhet DC and Bangladesh Human Rights Commission Chairman Dr Mizanur Rahman on the matter.
