Fruit shop fined, mangoes seized
A mobile court fined a fruit shop Tk 5,000 for selling formalin injected mangoes and seized around 400 kgs of mangoes from the shop in the port city yesterday.
Led by Executive Magistrates Jannatul Ferdous and Asfikun Nahar, the court conducted a drive at a fruit wholesale market in BRTC Falpatti area near Station Road.
The 400 kgs of mangoes, worth around Tk 40,000, which was seized by the court from M/s Golam Rabbani, was later destroyed at the Chittaging City Corporation dumping ground in Halishahar.
A joint team of Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute officials and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) members assisted the drive.
