200kg polybags seized in Ctg
The Department of Environment (DoE) officials seized 200 kilograms of banned polythene bags from three shops in Chittagong city yesterday.
The department also issued a show-cause notice and summoned the owners of the three shops to attend a hearing at its Chittagong office on May 29, said Mohammed Main Uddin, DoE assistant director of Chittagong office, who led the drive in Bahaddarhat area.
The drive was part of a six-week long special campaign against banned polythene bags, which began on May 02.
The DoE officials seized 100kg polythene bags from Shahjadi Store, 60kg from Khwaja Store, and 40kg from Al Aimen Store at Haq Market in the area.
