Four accused on 2-day remand

Four out of a total of five accused in the biggest-ever Yaba haul case in the port city were remanded for two days each yesterday. Metropolitan Magistrate Jasim Uddin of Chittagong passed the order after Kotwali police produced them before the court. On May 18, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized 2.7 lakh Yaba tablets, worth Tk 10 crore, from a warehouse at Asadganj and arrested Abdur Rashid Kulu, 50, importer of the tablets, and three of his associates Sabbir Ahmed, 30, Ataul Karim, 28, and Mohammad Ismail, 27. The four accused were remanded yesterday, while the fifth accused, Abdul Malek Chowdhury, owner of the warehouse, is absconding. Rab filed the case against the five men with Kotwali Police Station.
