PM trying to introduce one-party rule
Says Khasru
BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury yesterday said the prime minister was trying to reintroduce a one-party government “similar to what was in the post-Liberation War period” while running the country in a non-democratic way.
The president of Chittagong city unit BNP was addressing a rally organised by BNP before its Nasiman Bhaban office near Kazir Dewry Moor in Chittagong city.
Demanding withdrawal of “false” cases filed against BNP-led 18-party alliance leaders and activists, Khasru said Hasina was fooling people by attempting to conduct polls under her government.
Asking the prime minister to take lessons from the past, he said the “blueprint” of establishing a one-party government will cause the present government to stay out of power for over 50 years.
He said Jubo Dal leader Humaun Kabir, injured during the May 13 clash between BNP-Jamaat men and police, passed away on May 19, proving how brutally the cops attacked the party men.
The city unit BNP leader Shamsul Alam presided over the rally where BNP leaders Abu Sufian, Golam Akbar Khandokar, Syed Wahidul Alam and Jafrul Islam Chowdhury also spoke.
